This system has two surface barrier semiconductor detectors for measuring the concentration of alpha and beta radioactive elements online and offline, a shielded NaI(Tl) scintillator detector for measuring the concentration of gamma radioactive elements and, also a Geiger Muller Dosimeter to measure environmental gamma dose.
Ambient air is introduced through an air pump through a special filter that is automatically placed in front of the detectors, and its spectrum is collected and analyzed online.
The system has local software for collecting, calibrating tests and performing calculations related to the output of the detectors and is responsible for displaying, storing and sending information.
Since more than 50% of human radiation on the planet earth is caused by the activity of natural radon in the air and its beta and alpha producer daughters (Po-212, Po-214, Po-218 ) and the presence of these isotopes increases the field count in the alpha and beta spectrum, the system with the measuring the concentration of radon and thoron corrects the count related to the radiation of isotopes originating from human nuclear activities( Am-241, U-238, Pu-239,… ) and calculates their concentration in the ambient air. In order to ensure the accuracy of the data, statistical errors are calculated every minute and are announced to the user along with the detection limit (MDL). In addition, the warning and risk levels can be adjusted by the software.
